Wow, I am impressed, approximately 92 total entrants in the Kuparisaari Triathlon. I applaude the organizers, as those registered are from all about the region. I noted approximately 21, 20-29 age group; 21, 30-39 age group; 25, 40-49 age group; 10, 50-59 age group; 3, 60-69 age group; 1, 16 y/o; 1, 17 7/o; 1, 19 y/o. The last 4 age groups are to be commended for the courage to do a half iron event.
In the 50-59 age group we have 4 female and 7 male; 60-69 age group with 1 female and 2 males. It gets harder every year of age, when you could park it in front of a tv with munchies. Those that keep plodding away pushing the envelop of fitness are the ones remaining later in life at these events. They evade total joint replacements, statin drugs and worse. These folks are usually the toughest competitors.
Congratulations to all of you for registering. Now each of you has to show up, just like Lance, and finish. Hope rides on…
